Rupert Matthews, Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, has responded to the double stabbing in the Highfields area of Leicester.
He said: “I am saddened that someone else has been injured through knife crime. Yet again we are reminded how carrying knives causes harm and creates fear in our communities.
“I am being briefed regularly on this investigation, alongside others of such a serious nature. I know the police are working tirelessly to both track down offenders and keep communities safe.
“But we must do more. I am talking to the Chief Constable and our partners to see how, together, we can develop a suite of approaches to prevent violence. I am working with the Violence Reduction Unit to see how, as a partnership, we can change mindsets to knives and violence at an early age.
“I will be discussing the best way forward with local people and organisations over the coming days.”
