Leicester Hospitals have reintroduced visiting restrictions from 31st December 2021, due to the ongoing surge of Covid-19 infections.
Due to the increased prevalence of COVID-19 in the community we have made the difficult decision to restrict visiting for patients to keep our patients and colleagues safe.
As with visiting restrictions in previous COVID-19 waves, we will keep the restriction under regular review and still allow exceptions for compassionate reasons as outlined below:
Compassionate exceptions
Family bubble for patients under 18 years old, see below for paediatric and neonatal intensive care units
One carer for adult patients requiring assistance
One relative for a patient receiving difficult news
One relative collecting a patient being discharged
Two relatives for patients at end of life
Two birthing partners during labour and on the maternity wards
Partner for antenatal scan (providing social distancing can be maintained)
Permitted visitors should only attend hospital provided they:
Have no coronavirus symptoms, sickness or diarrhoea
Have obtained a negative lateral flow test result on the day of the visit
Are not self-isolating because of a positive PCR test, or because of contact isolation based on vaccination status, in line with government guidance
Observe mask wearing, hand hygiene and social distancing guidance whilst on site.
