Cash was stolen from a bank deposit machine during a robbery in The Parade, Oadby, this morning (9 May).
Officers were called to the premises at 8.42am today following a report that a black 4x4 vehicle had reversed into the building.
It is understood four men, who were wearing balaclavas and in possession of items believed to have included baseball bats, then made their way into the building.
A deposit machine was damaged and cash taken before the suspects left. No cash was taken from an ATM in the building.
Staff members were in the premises at the time. No injuries have been reported.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “The investigation is at a very early stage and we are urging anyone who was in the area and has any information to make contact.
“We understand a number of people may have filmed the incident on mobile phones – if you have not already handed this to us, we urge you to do so.
“Anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time should also check this and get in touch.
“If you were in the area at the time of the incident, please get in contact – your information could assist our investigation.”
