Appeal for information following fatal collision in Melton Road, Leicester


A man has died following a collision in Melton Road, Leicester, yesterday afternoon (Friday 16th December).


Police were called at 4.20pm to the incident which involved a lorry and a male pedestrian. The collision happened near to the junction with Moira Street.


Sadly the pedestrian, who is in his 50s, died at the scene of the incident.



No other injuries were reported.


Detectives are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the collision and are appealing to anyone with any information to make contact.


Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Sadly the male pedestrian died at the scene of this incident.


We are providing full support to his family as we continue our enquiries into the collision.


“If you have any information regarding the collision, please do get in touch. I know that at the time of the incident, the area was very busy with a large number of pedestrians and lots of traffic. Please think back to if you were in the area yesterday afternoon.


"Did you witness the collision or did you see the pedestrian or the lorry involved prior to the incident? If you have any dashcam footage or CCTV from the time of the incident, please also check this and make contact with us.”
